The museum was ok, great if your into looking at cars. they where all pretty but it was a bit boring for me.
now the ride in the ferrari was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!! They really let you go fast, the 'pilot' who makes sure you come back... he was telling Boyd to slow down until the cars on the highway where well ahead of us and then saying foot flat to the floor!! nearly 170km was what i saw before I started to just hold on tight!!! Lots of fun and ferrari hair is way way better than the hat hair we have been suffering with.
we got back to bologna about 2ish so we just hoped on the tourist bus for a quick overview of the city. Bologna was only a quick stop to make sure we saw the ferrari etc. So seeing any of it was a bonus. The tourist buses are great for getting the feel for where you are in the city and saves your legs heaps!!! It is a very pretty town with its 'portacos' that line all the streets. Apparently those and the bologna and lasagne and the oldest university is what makes it famous. Well we had the spag bol our last night there.... it was ok. The parmeasan cheese on the other hand is fantastic. Boyd and I haven't been getting alot of sleep so after dinner we went back to the hotel and took some pills..didn't help but oh welll plenty of time to sleep when your dead. Sam and daz went to a bar that had loud music and paid way too much for a drink but as normal they fed you and they said it was great.
We left Bologna with the plan of driving to Venice.
On the way we thought we would stop at some mineral hot springs near Padova. After a few laps around th e mountain we found a tourist Info and got directions to the 5 pools. They where just swimming pools filled with mineral water... we wanted the natural formed ones.. so we will try that again in Tuscany.
Dropping the car at Venice was a nightmare to say the least!! the parking garage was full but the ppl kept lining up, they had backed up all the way across the bridge and the police where turning ppl away. The rental office shut at 1.30 we got there at 1.15 and they where shut??? Bloody Italian times!!! So Daz dropped us there and returned the car to the airport....by himself. Took him nearly 2 hours to get back to us. I had booked a water taxi to pick us up , so we rang Giovanni and he came and took us direct to our apartment. Thank god some of our bags are too big for lugging over those staired bridges.
The apartment is really lovely the only downside is the one double bed and the 2 singles....Figured the honeymooners should have the double...
Our first night was the Redentore Festival, the celebration of the ending of the black plague. They have fireworks that started at 11.30 and went for 40 mins..Spectactular. It would have been even better with out the 10's of thousands of ppl lining the grand canal!! PPL everywhere!! The prices in Venice are hideous, 3 softdrinks and a bottle of water for 24 euro!! if you go a few streets back the prices settle down. We are taking it easy this morning. We have all had some bad nights sleep and are feeling kinda shagged. We have a few tours booked tomorrow, so today we will just head out when we are ready and take it easy. May help if we drink less.......na!!!!!!!!!! I'll have a look see at what photos I have of Bologna and some of venice....Ciao Ciao bellas will do pics when i get back..
